

The police are investigating a series of about 30 inexplicable sabotage attacks directed against telecommunication towers. In all cases, attackers cut cables and damage important elements, but do not steal any equipment. Law enforcement officers perceive the situation very seriously, the publication says.
Roger Gustafson, head of the Swedish postal and telecommunication agency, said that the peculiarity of the situation is that the authorities received messages from the geographically limited field. Almost all sabotage occurred in connection with the European Motor line E22 along the east coast.
According to the information provided by SVT, the police work on the theory that most attacks are the same subject.
Neither the police nor the prosecutor want to say anything about possible motives. The Security Service in the SVT comment says that the investigation remains in the course.
The state -owned company TERACOM, which owns communication towers throughout the country, reports that over the past year the number of incidents has increased significantly.
