More actors on trial for illegal alcohol advertising. The game is about huge amounts of money

A trial has started before the District Court for Warsaw-Śródmieście, among others. actors Bogusław Linda and Magdalena Cielecka, whom the prosecutor's office accused of illegally advertising alcohol, and five other people, who were accused of ordering the advertising of alcoholic beverages on social networking sites.

The indictment in this case was submitted to a Warsaw court in August, and the first hearing took place on Friday. The case is pending following a notification from social activist Jan Śpiewak.

At its beginning, defense lawyers submitted applications to exclude the public, to discontinue the proceedings, to apply to the Court of Appeal in Warsaw to transfer the case to the District Court in Warsaw, or to return it to the prosecutor to complete the proceedings. The court did not accept these requests.

Then, judge Łukasz Grylewicz opened the court and read the indictment. The prosecutor's office alleged in it actor Bogusław Linda (she consents to giving her name – PAP) and actress Magdalena Cielecka (she consents to giving her name – PAP) advertising alcoholic beverages by sharing her image on social networking sites.

In turn, five other people – representatives of the alcohol manufacturer or advertising agencies – ordered advertising of this alcohol, contrary to the provisions of the Act on upbringing in sobriety and counteracting alcoholism.

Since none of the defendants were in the courtroom, the judge read their explanations from the preparatory proceedings. It follows from them that they plead not guilty.

The offenses they are accused of are punishable by a fine of PLN 10,000. up to 500 thousand zloty.

The next hearing date was set for February 9.

These are not the only trials of famous people regarding illegal alcohol advertising. Last November, the same court sentenced the former MP Janusz P. for 450 thousand PLN fine, journalist Jakub W. for 400 thousand PLN, a Thomas C. for 350 thousand zloty. “We have had a great success! The sentences for illegal alcohol advertising have become final,” Jan Śpiewak announced in August on his social media profile.

Another trial of 11 people accused by the prosecutor's office of illegal alcohol advertising is ongoing in the District Court for Warsaw-Śródmieście. Among them are famous actresses and influencers, including: Joanna O., Olga K., Tatiana M., or Ewa M.-K. (PAP)
