Rapidly changing weather conditions turned out to be destructive for farmers from the Barycz Valley. It was enough for only 30 minutes for multi -hectare crops to be destroyed by rain and hail.

As reported by “Tygodnik Rolniczy”, June 4 In the vicinity of Żmigród a violent storm connected to a hail went through. In less than half an hour, nature destroyed hectares of crops. “For 20 minutes, the hail destroyed the cultivation of corn, potatoes, beetroot, carrots and cereals. I don't know what will happen next. I will wait 5 days to see if the corn will take on. If I fail, I will have to sift” – admitted Przemysław Skaczyło, a farmer from the Żmigród commune, whose words “weekly agricultural weekly”.
You can't enter some fields for the next few days, because the areas are thoroughly flooded by the water. The situation of many farmers in the vicinity of Żmigród is dramatic, because many sugar corn crops have been razed to the ground. What's more, the grains were able to ears under the pressure of water and hail.

A week before the harvest, the storm and hailstorms thawed cucumbers, cabbage and many other vegetables in the multi -generational farm of Sznajderów, which has been cultivating products for their silage for years.
“Half an hour and 20 ha of vegetables under water, worse, under ice. Hard hail balls have struck all cucumbers, cabbage, beetroot, garlic, dill (…) Many months of work and sacrifices. Now it was supposed to be the greatest effort – that is, collections, “said Sznajder through social media.

For many farmers from this part of Lower Silesia, the destructive storm and hail mean the most difficult moment because it happened just before the harvest.
