Bulgaria recorded the lowest unemployment rate since EU accession

In April 2025 Bulgaria had an unemployment rate of 3.3%, the lowest level from accession to the European Union in 2007, according to data provided by Eurostat, reports the Bulgarian BTA news agency, quoted by Agerpres.
This was also one of the lowest unemployment rates in the European Union. According to Eurostat, the member countries with the lowest unemployment rates were the Czech Republic and Malta (both by 2.7%), Bulgaria and Poland (both with 3.3%) and Germany (3.6%). At the opposite end, the highest unemployment rates were registered in Spain (10.9%), Finland (9.1%) and Sweden (8.5%).
In the European Union, the unemployment rate in April 2025 was 5.8%, unchanged compared to March 2025 but decreasing from a level of 6.0% in April 2024. In the euro area, the unemployment rate decreased in April, to 6.2% of the active population, from a level of 6.3% in March 2025 and one in March 2025.
In absolute figures, 12,902 million people in the EU were unemployed in April, of which 10,688 million in countries belonging to the euro area.
