Poczta Polska is to receive nearly PLN 2 billion in the years 2026-27 to finance the obligation to provide a universal service – assumed on Friday the draft of the post -law amendment. Currently, the state budget expenditure limit for this purpose is about PLN 1.3 billion, which in the project designer is insufficient.

It is about the draft amendment to the Postal Law prepared by the Ministry of State Asset. According to the assessment of regulation (OSR) attached to the project, the funds are to be used to finance the obligation to provide a universal service in 2024 and 2025, and Poczta Polska would receive money for this purpose in 2026 and 2027.
Currently, the limits of state budget expenditure for this purpose are PLN 651 million for 2026-2027. “These amounts are significantly lower than the estimated demand for funds from the state budget to finance the net cost of the obligation to provide universal services for 2024 and 2025” – emphasized in OSR. For this reason, this limit is to be increased to PLN 997 million in 2026 and to PLN 960 million in 2027.
The proposed provisions are to enter into force on January 1, 2026 to “provide the operator with the designated payment of financing the net cost of universal postal services for 2024, and then – for 2025”. (PAP)
