There is an idea for a crossing to Świnoujście. Can it burn it?

Świnoujście is one of the wealthiest cities in Poland. However, the project is so ambitious that the resort would have to look for support. So what does Olgierd Geblewicz, marshal of the province say West Pomeranian?
– This is an old topic regarding the construction of a dyke along the Polish German border. He was an alternative to the idea of building a tunnel under the pig – says Business Insider Polska Olgierd Geblewicz.
The project “Interesting but difficult”
– If the president recognizes that from the perspective of local interests this is a valuable undertaking, then we will be curious to wait for her initiative. However, the city should start with the development of a technical, economic and environmental study to start with the feasibility analysis of this type of investment, primarily in terms of environmental impact. This will also allow the estimation of indicative costs, as long as this task turns out to be technically and environmentally feasible. I am aware that Świnoujście is a rich city – it has even a constant income from real estate tax from the LNG terminal – but despite everything the financial scale of the construction of such a bridge can be very large, because it must be highly so that the units can flow under it – says the marshal.
– In addition, by engaging in this undertaking, the city would also have to perform environmental cross -border assessment and public consultations – he emphasizes.
Great enthusiasm can not be heard in the town hall in Szczecin. – President Piotr Krzystek considers him interesting, but now difficult due to potential costs – We hear in the city magistrate.

– Any commitment on the part of Szczecin is doubtful today, because most – if not the whole – the new trail would run outside the city's administrative borders. Thus, we do not have the opportunity to support this kind of initiative – add representatives of the President of Szczecin Piotr Krzystek.
So is such an investment real at all? – I think it could be another strategic communication project for West Pomerania and all of Poland. But it is worth thinking that it could also be implemented with the German side. I think that thinking about the implementation of this project in a decade perspective is quite real – Joanna Agatowska told us.
Western Pomerania – underinvested for years – has recently attracted great projects. In the vicinity of the province's capital is to be created, among others The western beltway of Szczecin, on which the state will spend PLN 8 billion. The most impressive fragment of this route will be A five -kilometer tunnel near the Oder in the Police regionwhich will become the longest facility of this type in Poland. A large container port will be built in Świnoujście.

– Theoretically, investments such as the port can make it easier to talk about other great projects, such as crossing the Szczecin Lagoon. On the other hand – for example, Warsaw can sniff that Świnoujście wants a new crossing, since recently a tunnel under the pig was created – one of the local politicians tells us anonymously. The question is also open whether German municipalities will want to add to the Polish investment – especially since in this country the economic situation remains not the best.
