The head of ANM: “Extreme meteorological phenomena are increasingly obvious and intense” / How will the weather in June

The general director of the National Meteorological Administration, Elena Mateescu, said that in June it is possible to continue “alternations of very high temperatures and very accentuated thermal discomfort, but also phenomena of instability”.
Speaking on Thursday at the National Forum “Viitorul Agriculture”, Elena Mateescu said that “summer started, here, already with the first weather warnings for high temperatures and high thermal discomfort, but at the same time the phenomena of well -known instability”.
“As the estimates show, for the first month this summer it is possible to continue in the same note – very high temperature alternations and particularly accentuated thermal discomfort, but also phenomena of particularly accentuated instability, so that we consider that the extreme meteorological phenomena are increasingly obvious and intense,” said the general director of ANM.
She also spoke about the weather phenomena in May, which she says have set several terminals.
“May, the last month of spring 2025, which really brought rain, unfortunately had effects through the significant quantities in some areas of the country. The fifth month in the history of meteorological measurements, with negative thermal deviation of minus 2.2 degrees Celsius, after May 1991, 1980, 1978, 1961. square at the national level, after May 1970, 1991 and 2012, and at the regional level of Moldova records the most rainy month in history, with an average quantity of 164 liters per square meter, thus exceeding the record registered in May 1991, of 163.2 liters per meter. Rainy after May 1970, 2019 and 1984 ”, said Elena Mateescu.
