On Monday morning, the electoral commission announced the official results of Sunday voting in the presidential election. Karol Nawrocki obtained 10 million 606 thousand 877 votes (50.89 percent), while Rafał Trzaskowski 10 million 237 thousand 286 votes (49.11 percent).

When assessing the results of the presidential election, a political scientist from the University of Warsaw dr hab. Bartłomiej Biskup pointed out that the weakening of traditional parties such as PiS and PO may be seen. In his opinion, in the second round of elections, “Most people, as usual, voted against, among these additional voters.” “This result seems to be such a result of government assessments that are low,” he added.

“The structure of party voters, these large political parties has changed completely, because they simply have – and their candidates – voters in older age groups. However, those young people who once voted for the Civic Coalition or Law and Justice, this is already very, very little of them,” the bishop told PAP.

According to the political scientist, the currently observed phenomena can herald the “beginnings of the end” of the PiS-PO duopol. “There will be a different duopoly soon, but not PiS -PO. I think that these parties have something to think about,” he said. “If these phenomena are deepening, I think it will be in favor of anti -system parties, i.e. a confederation or party together – these may be the beneficiaries of this whole situation. But not these traditional political parties,” he assessed.

When asked about cooperation between the president – the government assessed that “it certainly will not be easy cooperation.” At the same time, he emphasized that it would be necessary.

“This government cooperated with President Andrzej Duda. There were other previous so -called cohabitation. It is known that this dust will fall, emotions will fall and you will have to sit down and do something, at least in foreign policy, in defense, in defense – here there will be common goals and they will somehow try to communicate. Parliamentary.

According to the bishop, the dismissal of Prime Minister Donald Tusk is excluded. “After this election, whatever, a failure, the government will want to strengthen somehow. Such the simplest parliamentary way is to submit a request for a vote of trust, so I would even expect, or some reconstruction,” he said.

On Monday evening, TVP Info will broadcast the post -election speech of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. According to unofficial information, Polsat News, the prime minister would announce to ask the Sejm about a vote of confidence in his government. (PAP)
