According to Bloomberg, the topic will be discussed during the Thursday meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels. The details of the plan – in this schedule – remain unclear for now, but the increase in defense capabilities would apply to the entire continent, with the different participation of individual countries.

According to the agency, the ministers are also to be approved by one of the largest programs for increasing weapons from the Cold War, as part of wider actions to make Europe and Canada to make it possible to make American defense systems. Brussels talks are to prepare the ground for the June NATO summit in the Hague.

The Secretary General of the Alliance Mark Rutte stated on Monday in Vilnius that NATO must be ready for a full -size conflict. “We don't wage war, but we also don't live in peace,” he said.

Bloomberg emphasizes that the expansion of air defense is one of NATO's priorities – especially in the context of increasingly advanced threats, such as drones, rockets and combat aircraft. Over the past decades of the Alliance, they have limited the development of these systems, focusing on threats from outside Europe, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 changed this strategy.
