Putin's great humiliation. Ukraine's attack will cost Russia a lot

Ukrainian forces hit four military bases of the strategic fleet of Russian bombers: Olenja in Olenegora-Wysokim in the Murmansk region, Biełaya in the Irkutsk region, Diagilewo in Riazan and Ivanovo-Siewiernyj in the Ivanian region. The SBU source announced that Kiev forces “aimed at planes that bombed Ukrainian cities every night.” The operation received the code name “Spider”.
According to SBU, Ukraine carried out “Unprecedented FPV drone swarm attack”.
Over 40 Russian aircraft were seriously damaged, including Tu-95MS strategic bombers (NATO code name: Bear-H), Tu-22M3 and an an aircraft of early A-50 warning. SBU estimates damage caused by Russia to over $ 6 billion. (PLN 22.3 billion).
“Spider's operation”
As reported by “The Wall Street Journal”, SBU smuggled dozens of small drones to Russia, and then transported wooden containers to this country, in which she hid drones from surgery against the Russian Air Force. When the time has come, the containers were loaded on trucks and transported to the air bases. There, the Ukrainians remotely opened container covers and flew out of them in search of goals.
After a result of drone attacks on military bases, numerous military aircraft stood in flames, Russia immediately evacuated planes from the important Air Base Engels-2, fearing another blow. As SBU wrote in a statement, this is “a serious blow to Russia's strategic (nuclear) abilities.” It means specifically “the weakness of her ability to carry out a blow, which significantly undermines the potential of Russia's nuclear deterrence.”
What's more, the operation significantly reduced the Kremlin's ability to carry out conventional long -distance attacks.
“System neglect”
The attack on four strategic bases of the Russian army is also A serious defeat of Russian security and defense systems. According to SBU, this is due to “the lack of basic protective measures in Russian strategic air bases”.
She noticed that there are no hangars for bombers that always stand on the airport plate. In addition, the Russians lack efficient electronic combat systems. For some time, Russia has been trying to mask its strategic bombers, applying white elements to their wings to confuse Ukrainian satellite and rocket systems. However, this method turned out to be completely ineffective.
In addition, the so -called “system neglect in the field of circuit protection”. Drones took off from trucks in the immediate vicinity of the bases – they were apparently not detected by the Russian army. According to SBU, Russia also does not have general means of defense against drones.
After a kind of damaged bombers, it can be stated that the Ukrainian surgery inflicted a powerful financial blow to Russia. The cost of the Ukrainian FPV drone is about $ 300 to $ 600. (1.1 to 2.2 thousand PLN) per item. The cost of a Russian Tu-95MS strategic bomber reaches over $ 100 million. (PLN 373 million).
A turning point?
Prof. Carlo Masala from the University of Bundeswehr in Munich believes that this attack should not be considered a turning point of the war, but that he will significantly weaken the Russian fleet of bombers. According to him, the attack also showed that “Ukraine is able to conduct operations deeply on Russia.”
Norbert Roettgen expert has a similar opinion. – This successful operation, thousands of kilometers from the border, shows how technologically and industrially developed. Uses these possibilities to [przeprowadzania] Military clever and bold attacks – he adds.
Prof. Masala warns, however, that you should expect a response from Moscow. “Russia will answer, probably with attacks on civil purposes in Ukraine,” he says.
