The STRABAG consortium will build a 2-km Zator beltway in the new national road 28. Kacper Michna from the Krakow branch of GDDKiA said on Monday that the contract for the construction of this route would be signed in July.

The Kraków Directorate Branch for the first time selected the contractor of the Zator bypass at the beginning of September last year. It was Skanska. “All participants of the proceedings appealed against this decision, including Skanska, who won them. After reading the arguments, we decided to annul the results of the choice and re -verifying the complex documentation,” said Michna.
With the most advantageous, the offer of the consortium of Strabag infrastructure South and Strabag was considered to be the most advantageous. “Also, appeals were received from this decision. They were distant in its entirety by the National Appeal Chamber. (…) in July, after inspection of documents, we plan to sign a contract for the construction of the route. Its cost is PLN 76.2 million” – he added.
The contractor for the construction of the beltway was chosen not by the usually used unlimited tender, but a competitive dialogue. The procedure was applied due to the innovative nature of the investment using the BIM (Building Information Modeling – PAP) methodology. It is about managing information. From the project to the implementation to the collection of works, and then maintaining and managing the object, a common data environment and three -dimensional, digital models of building objects are used.
Michna explained that the management wanted the representatives of the contractors to have an impact on the shape of the contract, which they would then implement. “We worked on simplification and automation of some contract procedures to improve the flow of information. Thanks to BIM we want to manage it effectively,” he said.
The construction of the beltway will be the first road investment in the GDDKiA Malopolska branch, in which the electronic construction log will be used. The assumption of the contract is to eliminate paper documentation wherever it is possible.
The road will be 2.1 km long. It will run from the roundabout at the intersection of DK44 and DW781 (ul. 1-go Maja) to the gas station at DK28 (ul. Wadowicka). The section will be a single -carriageway road of the GP class, i.e. the main road of an accelerated traffic, with one lane in each direction.
The investment includes the expansion of fragments of Wadowicka Streets (DK28), Gen. Sikorskiego (DW781), Bugajska (poviat road) and ul. Jana Pawła II and ul. Haller (municipal roads). New roads belonging to the municipality will be built, which will be used to transport the adjacent area. Technical infrastructure – water, sewage, gas, electricity and teletechnical will be rebuilt.
Residents will be able to use two underground crossings under a new road, which will be conducted by pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The investment has been designed to minimize its environmental impact. There are also a passage and three culverts for animals, two artificial wetlands and acoustic screens.
The road will be created as part of the Government National Road Construction Program until 2030 (with a perspective until 2033). The expected construction time is 2025-2027.
National Road 28 runs in the south of Poland, from the western part of Lesser Poland to Medyka on the border with Ukraine in Podkarpacie. (PAP)
