The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, told Monday to the Romanian journalists present at the B9 summit in Vilnius that today he will have a Tête-à-tête meeting with the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan.
The President of Ukraine said that meeting with his Romanian counterpart will be “an opportunity to discuss our topics of common interest, not just the European Union.”
“I have already invited the President of Romania to visit Ukraine. I think he will tell you. Romania is very important,” Zelenski told journalists.
Zelenski, about the elections in Poland: “I spoke with the winner and I already congratulated him”
In a discussion he had with journalists from several countries present in Vilnius, Zelenski said that it is important for Ukraine's partners today to “discuss important issues”.
Zelenski also spoke about the presidential elections in Poland, who were won by the nationalist Karol Nawrocki.
“I talked to the winner and I already congratulated him. I hope I will have the opportunity to talk to him. Poland is a good friend and a strong neighbor. I respect the vote of the people in Poland,” Zelenski said.
What happens to Vilnius
The representatives of the fifteen states participated in an informal dinner on Sunday before the summit itself.
On Monday, the leaders will be received by the Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda who will also give a speech before the plenary session. At 3:00 pm, Romania time will be held a joint press conference attended by the President of Lithuania, the general secretary of NATO, the President of Poland, Nicușor Dan, the Prime Minister of Denmark and the president of Ukraine.
The first lady of Lithuania, Diana Nausėdienė, organizes a special program for the wives of the heads present at the Summit. Along with the Czech first lady, Eva Pavlová, will open an exhibition about Lithuano-Cehe relationships at the National Library. Later, together with Poland's first lady, Kornhauser-Duda, will visit a bilingual kindergarten and an asylum for patients with terminal diseases.
The summit takes place in the context on which the second round of the Polish presidential elections took place on Sunday. At the summit of now, Poland will be represented by President Andrzej Duda, at the end of the mandate. Nicușor Dan was last Sunday, on May 25, in Poland, where he showed his support for the pro-European candidate, the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, but in the meantime he lost the elections.
