The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, qualified the operation “spider's web” as “an absolute fantastic result” and an action “performed exclusively by Ukraine”, reports the BBC.
The Ukrainian leader confirmed that the “spider's cloth” operation was prepared for over a year and a half.
“One year, six months and nine days from the beginning of the planning to the actual execution,” Zelenski said, on his first reaction after the attack of Ukraine in which “over 40” of Russian bombers were destroyed in Russia's depth.
“It is our longest operation. Our people involved in the preparation of the operation have been withdrawn from the Russian territory in time,” Zelenski continued.
Zelenski also said he had met with the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), General Vasil Maliuk, who asked to reveal to the public the details and results of the operation.
“Of course, not everything can be revealed at this time, but these are Ukrainian actions that will undoubtedly remain in history books,” Zelenski added.
“Ukraine defends itself, and rightly – we do everything to make Russia feel the need to put an end to this war. Russia has begun this war, Russia has to put an end to Ukraine!” Zelenski said.
SBU said that on Sunday's attack on Russia aerodromes destroyed 34% of Russian strategic bombers capable of carrying cruise missiles.
SBU also claims that it has produced the Russian aviation damage seven billion dollars through drone attacks.
Russia confirmed Ukraine's attacks, saying that “many pieces of aviation equipment caught fire.”
