The incident occurred about 100 km from the border with Ukraine, which aroused speculation as to possible perpetrators. According to Associated Press The Russian authorities have not yet indicated the guilty, but in similar cases in the past, Ukrainian sabotagers were often accused. Aleksandr Chinsztejn, acting as a Governor of the Kurszas region, said on a telegram that the bridge collapsed in the Żeleznogorski region. The locomotive after falling on the highway under the bridge began to burn. The drivers who stayed in it were injured and were hospitalized. Their number was not made public.
