The Ukrainian negotiators who will participate in the discussions of Monday in Istanbul will present to the Russian part a roadmap they propose to reach a sustainable peace solution, a copy of the document consulted by Reuters shows.

The proposed roadmap begins with a complete ceasefire over a period of at least 30 days, followed by the release of all the prisoners from the two camps, but also of the Ukrainian children who were taken on the territory controlled by Russia. Then a meeting is planned between the Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

Based on the plan, Moscow and Kiev, with the participation of the US and Europe, will work to establish the terms on which they can agree to end the war, the largest conflict in Europe after World War II.

Ukrainian officials announced this week that they sent the Russian part before the discussions in Istanbul.

Kiev's framework terms

The Ukrainian framework terms for a peace agreement, as established in the document consulted by Reuters, are largely the same as the terms previously proposed by Kiev. Kiev does not want to have restrictions on the military force of Ukraine after the conclusion of a possible peace agreement, does not want to internationally recognized the sovereignty of Russia on the Ukrainian areas occupied by the forces of Moscow. The Ukrainian side, also wants damages.

In the Ukrainian document it is also mentioned that the current location of the front line will be the starting point for the negotiations on the territory.

These terms differ considerably from the demands publicly expressed by Russia in recent weeks.

The Ukrainian delegation that will participate in the discussions in Istanbul will be led by the Minister of Defense, Rustem Humorov, according to the specifications made by President Volodimir Zelenski on Sunday.

Also on Sunday, a source of the Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) card said, for The Kyiv Independent, that “over 40” of Russian bombers were hit in the depth of the Russian Federation in an operation of the institution.

In addition, two bridges collapsed in two Russian regions on the border with Ukraine, causing trains, at least seven dead and dozens of injured, Russian authorities announced on Sunday morning, according to Reuters. The incident was qualified as a “sabotage” by Russian military bloggers and a high official from Moscow claimed that Ukraine became a “terrorist enclave.”
