290 home searches in criminal groups, over 260 bringing and 105 detained persons, in just a few days
Continuing the series of initiatives held starting with 2018 under the generic name “Day Z”, The DIICOT prosecutors, together with the Romanian Police and the support of the Gendarmerie, carried out, during this week, a large operation, in order to destroy organized criminal groups.
These are groups specialized in committing drugs, trafficking in people and minors, child pornography, computer crime and deception.
In this context, approximately 290 home search warrants and over 260 warrants were implemented, in order to obtain evidence regarding the illegal activity of organized crime groups and other persons involved in committing organized crime offenses.
“Over 2.7 kilograms of cocaine, 800 grams heroin, 11 kilograms cannabis, 450 grams, 7.5 kilograms various psychoactive substances, 290 tablets and 235 doses of risk and high risk drugs, 1 kilogram hallucinogenic mushrooms, more growth groups, 42, 42, varnishes, 42 computer units, computing media, laptops and media. 6 non-lethal weapons, 4 cars, 2 luxury vehicles and 300 grams of gold jewelry, ”says DIICOT, on Thursday, in a statement.

Over 100 people were detained
Also, the measure of the insurance seizure on the amounts of approximately 252,000 lei, 43,000 euros, $ 12,500, 1000 pounds and other amounts in various currencies was established.
The prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism Offenses took, following the administration of the evidence, the measure of detention towards 105 defendants.
52 defendants are investigated in a state of preventive arrest and 5 under house arrest. Also, compared to 39 defendants, the judicial control measure was taken by the DIICOT prosecutors or by the competent courts according to the law. For 3 defendants, who evade criminal prosecution, proposals for preventive arrest were formulated ”, says DIICOT.
It follows, that during this day, the judges of rights and freedoms will rule on other proposals made by the DIICOT prosecutors regarding taking preventive measures.
