Spain will be affected by a wave of heat that could bring new absolute temperature records for May

On Tuesday, there were over 37 C in Sevilla and Cordoba, but Spain is preparing for even higher temperatures, values that have not been found for 70 years at the end of spring. Temperatures could exceed 40 C in the south.
The National Meteorological Agency (AEMET) says that the interval May 29 – June 1 could bring the highest temperatures in the last 75 years for this period, writes AFP.
Years like 2006, 2015 and 2022 brought very high temperatures in May, to Spain.
The temperatures are throughout the country with at least 6-7 degrees Celsius above the normal period, due to the arrival of a hot air mass in northern Africa.
Officials from the weather agency say that there will be even regions where the maximum temperatures will exceed over 10 ° C the usual values for this period of the year, especially in the northern, east and south of the Iberian peninsula.
In certain regions of Andalusia, in the south of Spain, thermometers could reach even 40 degrees, according to AEMET forecasts. It is not excluded that, in these days, absolute temperature records for May.
The last three years have been the hottest ever registered in Spain, with several heat waves (even in April) and temperature records (over 47 C in summer).
And the winters were extremely hot. Nine of the last ten winters were warmer than the average.
