Negotiation marathon in Cotroceni. Nicușor Dan discusses Wednesday with the parliamentary parties. The program of consultations

The Presidential Administration announces consultations with the parliamentary parties, on Wednesday, starting at 9.00, at the Cotroceni Palace. President Nicușor Dan calls on discussions including the members of the sovereign parties, although they announced that they will not participate.

“Pursuant to the provisions of Art. 80 paragraph (2) of the Constitution of Romania, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, invited, at the Cotroceni Palace, the representatives of the political parties and formations of the Romanian Parliament, for informal consultations regarding the economic and political situation of the country”transmitted the Presidential Administration.
Thus, Nicușor Dan will have at the Cotroceni Palace 10 consultations with the parliamentary formations. The Golden Party has already announced that it will not participate, but the formation is passed in the president's schedule.
Consultations will take place on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, according to the following program:
09:00: The Social Democratic Party (PSD);
10:30 am: National Liberal Party (PNL);
12:00: Save Romania (USR) Union;
1:30 pm: Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR);
3:00 pm: the parliamentary group of national minorities;
4:00 pm: Alliance for the Union of Romanians (gold);
5:00 pm: SOS Romania Party;
6:00 pm: the party of young people (can);
7:00 pm: non -affiliated parliamentarians.
President Nicușor Dan announced on Monday, that the first round of discussions with the parliamentary parties will take place on Wednesday. The meetings will be informal, but organized, says the head of state.
Asked if he could designate a prime minister from the PSD if the Social Democrats were conditioning the entry to obtaining the position of prime minister, Nicușor Dan emphasized the preliminary character of the meetings.
“It is the first round of discussions, which is why they are informal. Even if they are organized, they are informal and will continueA ”, stated the head of state.
The main unknown is the PSD participation in government. The Social Democrats mandated Sorin Grindeanu with an open mandate, without negotiations on the ministries. The PSD also announced the red lines regarding the negotiations: the underfunding of local authorities and reducing investments in infrastructure. In addition to other measures such as the introduction of progressive tax, an older theme that has produced Contra in the PSD-PNL coalition so far.
