How big is the danger of terrorist attacks in Romania after the US – Iran war broke out. Expert: “The risk is now everywhere”

The US and Europe are experiencing major risks of attacks, warns the experts questioned by “Adevărul”. The War in the Middle East has only agitated the spirits and increase the risks, and the Iranian attacks on the American bases in the area show a climbing.

The war between Israel and Iran, as well as the recent American intervention, resulting in the bombardment of Iranian nuclear installations, Natanz and Isfahan could announce a recrudescence of terrorist acts in the Middle East and worldwide. According to Israel, the United States are the most targeted, but not even Washington's European allies are safe. As is the case in such situations, all American interests in the world, especially military bases, but also economic objectives and not only become a target.

For the time being, until possible terrorist attacks, Iran has unleashed on Monday, June 23, an attack on American Middle East bases. Specifically, the Iranian army launched an operation “Basharat Fath” (Victoria's promise) against American military bases in Qatar and Iraq.

“Adevărul” appeals to General (R) Dan Grecu's expertise, but also that of security experts Claudiu Deterratu and Hari Bucur Marcu to find out to what extent Europe, but especially Romania would be in danger due to Islamic terrorist groups.

There is also the second variant of military action carried by Iran against the American bases in the Arabian peninsula, which happened right now. Further, through its proxy, Iran will probably try other actions against US military bases and beyond. Where does the danger come from

Even Europe, the main US allied, is not safe at all. And not Romania. General Dan Grecu talks about the risk of activating some terrorist cells, many of them reported and active in the past on the continent.

“For states outside the Near East region, and here I am referring to the states of Europe, in the United States, generally democratic states, the danger consists in activating Islamist cells whose fanatical members are ready at any time to perform terrorist actions. Whether it is generally or against American or Israeli interests in the region, or in the region. Embassies, consulates and military bases ” says the general.

Former head of the Defense Section of the Permanent Delegation of Romania to NATO, Claudiu Degeratu believes that the risk of terrorist attacks in Europe is increasing. Iranians or terrorist groups they work with could choose any target, theoretically.

“The risk is everywhere. Now, of course, we have the probability of having an attack is another discussion, but the risk is everywhere, in all areas, in all the countries where American forces are present. As is the risk where there are tourists, and American civilian citizens in Europe. Such things can always happen, we can talk about the wolf. Special forces and Atitero of all NATO states should already be alert, the expert considers. And Romania should take such measures, he says.

The shield from Deveselu, a target for terrorists?

General Dan Grecu also believes that, in terms of Romania, the danger exists, but it is not an imminent one. The American bases in Romania or the shield from Deveselu could register on the list. However, the general does not believe that their Iranians or allies would be capable of such blows.

“From my point of view, the ability or organization of these terrorist cells is, however, relatively small, without having the ability to do serious, spectacular actions. But this does not mean that the Romanian security structures do not have to be vigilant, because, in the end, such things happen anywhere in the world and we cannot consider ourselves to be untouched. And to keep in mind that if Iran had such an intention, although, honestly, I think it is a small probability of attacking Europe, surely, the Deveselu shield would be exactly what it would need. But I doubt I can do it too ”says General Grecu.

His opinion is shared by the Security Expert Hari Bucur Marcu.

“I am convinced that if it were an imminent risk, the Americans would have thought twice whether to hit or not. But the reality is that, although such a danger cannot be fully excluded, the risk is not so high. On paper, things do not look good. Let's think that there would be only 10 million illegals in the world, if only 5 million, From a terrorist cell, we are talking about 50 people, not to say that of the 50 people form 20 terrorist cells.”Says Hari Bucur Marcu.

Starting from the example of the “green men” in Crimea, brought over the night of Russia to act there, the Iranians and other states could act somewhat similar against some American bases.
