Ten suspects were detained. According to the investigation, they transported the wholesale parties of pseudo -epedrin across the border in containers with baby food and animal food. In the underground laboratory in the Dnieper, drugs of several types were produced from it.
The finished “goods” were sent to saunors and customers by mail or regular buses. The average weight of the parcel was 5 kg – it was 50 thousand tablets of prohibited drugs. The profit of drug producers exceeded $ 100 thousand per month, they say in the SBU.
Two brothers from Zaporozhye are suspected in organizing the scheme.
“One of them at the beginning of 2022 went to the EU, where he formed a foreign wing of the group that was responsible for the smuggling of precursors to Ukraine. At the same time, his brother remained in Zaporozhye to coordinate the import of prohibited substances and their sale in different regions,” the message said.
Six defendants were detained on the territory of the European Union, four more in Zaporozhye and Krivoy Rog. During the search, they seized raw materials and equipment for the production of prohibited substances.
Suspicion was immediately reported under four articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – part 3 of Art. 305 (smuggling of precursors), part 3 of Art. 307 (illegal manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation, shipping or sales of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues), part 3 of Art. 311 (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or shipping of precursors), part 2 of article 317 (organization or maintenance of places for illegal use, production or manufacture of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues).
The court sent detainees in Ukraine during the investigation. The arrested outside Ukraine will be held accountable in accordance with the EU Law.
