Ukrainian intelligence: 20 Russian defense plants receive components from China

China provides devices, chemicals, gunpowder and spare parts to enterprises of the Russian arms industry; Cooperation of 20 factories with the Chinese side was confirmed – said on Monday the Ukrinform agency, the head of Ukraine's foreign intelligence (Szru) Oleh Iwaszczenko.

“There is information that China is providing machines, specialized chemicals, gunpowder and components directly to enterprises for military purpose. We have confirmed data on 20 Russian plants” – noted the head of Szru.

According to Iwaszchenko, in the years 2024–2025 there were at least five cases of cooperation with China in the aviation industry – this applies to equipment, spare parts and documentation. “In six cases they were large supplies of specialist chemicals,” he added.

“At the beginning of 2025, 80 percent of critical electronics used in Russian drones came from China. At the same time, there were false markings, frauds in the names and the actions of intermediary companies, through which everything that is necessary for the production of microelectronics” – said Iwaszczenko.

In mid -May, the British weekly “Economist” assessed that China's leader XI Jinping was holding his Russian equivalent of Vladimir Putin in his hand. “In all its history, Russia has never been as dependent on China as now,” wrote the weekly. (PAP)
