Russia will be able to launch up to 1 thousand drones in Ukraine for one attack – The Economist

The publication notes that 30 drones who struck in Ukraine in one night were considered exceptional. Now Russia loads the air defense of Ukraine with hundreds of such drones. In particular, on May 25, the Kremlin made a massive blow to Ukrainian cities, using 298 drones, which is probably a record. Russia also uses more missiles: 69 were released on the same night.

Last year, the Kremlin produced about 300 Shahedlers per month. Now the same number is now produced in less than three days, the newspaper writes. Ukrainian military intelligence claims that it has documents that indicate that Russia plans to increase the production of drones to 500 per day. This means that attacks of 1 thousand pieces can become a reality, the publication says.

This figure is a Ukrainian aviation expert Konstantin Krivolap, however, considers an exaggeration, since the Russian military industry often overstates the data of its production. But it is obvious that the number of drones attacking Ukraine will increase markedly. According to the expert, even if Ukraine manages to stabilize the front line in the East, difficulties with the protection of the sky will only increase.

Despite the hopes for the ceasefire, Russia finds more and more ways to break through the air defense of Ukraine, which is faced with growing difficulties due to the lack of interceptor missiles, the changing tactics of the enemy and the Uninhabited US policy, the publication says.

Another serious problem for Ukrainian air defense is called the threat of ballistic missiles. Only several countries have systems that can withstand such fast and destructive weapons. In particular, this is the American Patriot system, but Ukrainians have a lack of missiles to them.

Ukraine may have to develop a survival strategy that combines air defense with an air offensive and deterrence, the article says. Krivolap notes that Ukraine will have to destroy Russian launch complexes, factories and warehouses.
