Putin signed a law on the localization of cars for taxi in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that establishes requirements for the level of localization of cars in a taxi. The document will enter into force on March 1, 2026.

For inclusion in the taxi register, the machine must comply with one of the requirements:

• The total number of localization points corresponds to the public procurement established by the government. Malles are charged for the production of a car at an enterprise in Russia and the use of domestic components.
• The models were made according to special investment contracts (SPIC), concluded from March 1, 2022 to March 1, 2025.
• Cars were produced within the framework of the SPIC, after March 1, 2025, if the government issues approval.

The last two norms will be valid only until January 1, 2033.

Requirements will not be applied to taxi vehicles entered in regional registers until March 1, 2026. For some regions, there is a delay: the Kaliningrad region and the subjects of the Siberian Federal District – until March 1, 2028, the Far Eastern Federal District – until March 1, 2030.

In the Ministry of Industry and Trade Reportedthat the list of car models for taxi will be prepared until the end of 2025. “For this document, the possibility of updating will be provided,” the department added.
