According to police, detained people were to help bring counterfeit parts to the aircraft engines that TAP uses.

As the Portuguese television of SIC, citing the investigation, said on Wednesday evening, among the detainees are a former TAP airline employee and two entrepreneurs involved in the practice. According to the scandal, the scandal was found in 2023, when after ordering new elements to the engine of one of the machines, a fake of the spare part was discovered based on the worn -out equipment.

The carrier's authorities were to notify the European Aviation Safety Agency and the Portuguese prosecutor's office on their own initiative. They explained that forged equipment from Aog Technics registered in the UK, which offered allegedly new spare parts based on a quality certificate.

The “brain” of the procedure, as reported by Sic, was 37-year-old Jose Alejandro Zamora Yrala, son of politician Jose Zamora Lopez from the Venezuelan party Democratic Action. The businessman managing the British company providing forged parts for air engines has already been detained in England.

According to Wednesday's declarations of TAP's authorities, the carrier has already managed to identify and replace all spare parts supplied to his aircraft from the company, which was managed by Zamora Yrala.
