The United Arab Emirates announced on Friday a record temperature for May, 50.4 degrees Celsius, the highest registered in the last two decades in this Gulf oil country, informs France Presse and Agerpres.

“The highest temperature registered today throughout the country is 50.4 degrees Celsius at Al Shawamekh,” in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the National Meteorological Center said on its X account.

“It is the highest temperature measured in May since the onset of records, in 2003,” the institution for AFP said.

So far, the record for May was 50.2 degrees Celsius, established in 2009.

And in April there were very high temperatures

Last month, this desert country has undergone an unusual heat for that period, with a maximum record temperature of 42.6 degrees, which caused the authorities to issue recommendations for the population, urging intense hydration and avoiding outdoor activities in the hottest hours.

On April 27, the temperature reached a maximum of 46.6 degrees, the second highest value ever registered in April in this country, after the record of 46.9 degrees Celsius in April 2012.

The United Arab Emirates are among the main oil exporters in the world. They also invest massively in renewable energy sources.
