Ionuț Moșteanu, discussion with the Secretary of Defense in the US: “I invited him in Romania, to discuss in the field the extraordinary things that we can do together”

The Minister of Defense, Ionuț Mosteanu, had on Tuesday, in the margin of the NATO summit in The Hague, a discussion with Pete Hegseth, the head of the Pentagon, in which Romania's commitment to strengthen the strategic partnership with the US and to invite him to pay an official visit to our country.
“We reaffirmed the commitment of Romania to strengthen the strategic partnership with the US and invited it to Romania, to discuss in the field the extraordinary things we can do together, Romania and the US, to strengthen the security of the Eastern flank and to support the common efforts in NATO,” Moșteanu said on Facebook.
At the discussion on Tuesday, Moșteanu was accompanied by the head of the General Staff of the Defense, General Gheorghiță Vlad, and the department of the Department for the Defense, Planning and International Relations, general-lieutenant Mihai Iancu.
At the Hague meeting, the Minister of Defense transmitted that Romania remains “firm” employed against collective defense and transatlantic cohesion.
The topics addressed in the ministerial discussions “targeted strategic topics essential for the future of the Alliance”.
“NATO crosses a structural change, which has as central elements a credible defense and discouragement position, centered on a modern command and control architecture, forces capable of acting at the multidomic level, as well as an advanced capacity for force and logistical support,” according to the MAPN statement.
The defense ministers discussed the commitments made within NATO, the new investment plan for defense – aimed at reaching a level of 5% of GDP by 2035, as well as measures to generate the necessary forces and capabilities to an efficient allied discouragement and defense position.
