I saw the war about the chip. I was at the Taiwan fair

For the first time since the outbreak of the trade war, the most important people from chip production came to Taiwan. Computex is the most important technology fair in the world. And just a few weeks ago it seemed that they would take place in a very nervous atmosphere.
“Taiwan stole our business related to chips and wants protection,” Donald Trump threatened in October, demanding relocation of factories to the USA. Then he also added duties to the threats – in the case of Taiwan products they were to amount to 32 percent.
And suddenly there was a phrase – duties were suspended, and Taiwan, a chip tycoon responsible for 60 percent. global production of these components announces an increase in investment with its main ally. “As far as I understand, discussions are quite smooth,” Raymond Greene, the head of the diplomatic mission on the island, assured in a recent interview for “Focus Taiwan”.

Changing the atmosphere is too visible. An emphatic proof is the fact that The first violin during the fair was played by the American Nvidia. The president of the company, born in Taiwan, Jensen Huang came with the entire bag of key announcements for Taiwan and local companies. And much more could be read between the lines.
Nvidia's great plans
“Everyone knows the restaurants that I like here,” joked the head of Nvidia, repeatedly emphasizing how special the island is for him. Nvidia at the fair was literally everywhere – a fragment of Huang's speech was coming from a mobile store with the company's gadgets. At the stands you could find devices with its own autograph.

He spoke on Computex several times. He inaugurated the fair, then accompanied the speeches of the heads of Foxconn or the Mediatek – Taiwan champions in the semiconductor industry. Together with the first of them and TSMC, i.e. the world leader in the production of semiconductors NVIDIA is to build a giant AI supercomputer on the island with 100 MW. MediaTek will, in turn, be one of the first NVIDIA partners in the Nvlink project – a platform in which Huanga components can be combined with elements from other suppliers.

Gameplay with China
In this way, NVIDIA acts, contrary to the recent declarations of Trump about transferring know-how to the United States. On the other hand, Huang is fresh after meeting the administration during a visit to the Middle East. In Taiwan, on the one hand, he praised Trump for lifting commercial restrictions on chips, On the other hand, he criticized the still maintained restrictions on China.

It is not without significance that Huang came to Taipei from Hong Kong. And according to the “Financial Times”, talks about the NVIDIA investment in Shanghai were underway. The company is trying to find a golden mean between sanctions imposed on China preventing the transfer of American technology, on the other hand, the desire to push on the Chinese market and not to receive a field even returning to the former power of Huawei.
However, she made it clear that Possible projects from the PRC will not take place at the expense of the American ally.
Intel lick wounds
Even after a short walk around the Tainex Congress Center, one could see that the opportunity to reflect wanted to use his Intel problems. However, there was no trace of old glory – a year ago he performed here as one of the main stars, the then head of the Pat Gelsinger concern, and in power there were even powerful investment plans of the group in Europe. Today there is neither Gelsinger nor great European projects. The new head of Intel Lip-Bu Tan had the first official visit to the island. Instead of official speeches, however, he focused on a closed meeting in a small group of key company suppliers.
Intel is in trouble, and AMD is lurking on his market shares

Intel on Computex has arrived with new ARC Pro B60 and B50 graphics processorsGaudi 3 accelerators to use in the cloud, as well as AI Assistant Builder enabling users to create their own local AI agents adapted to other Intel services.
However, it is bursed by another large player from the USA who has the desire to replace it. AMD announced a reinforced partnership with Taiwan Asus during the fair. The computers manufacturer presented its ASUS Expert P Series Copilot+ devices and computers for companies with AMD Ryzen processors. AMD hopes that this will allow the company to conquer the Computer market for companies using AI on a wider scale than before.
What else dominated this year's Computex? One of the main topics of the discussion was the development of the boundary AI – so as to reduce the costs and delays resulting from data transmission. He talked about it, among others head of Qualcomm Cristiano Amon.
China is watching
For an outsider observer, the presence of Chinese entities at the fair could be a surprise. Of course, it is not that the biggest players are proud to expose themselves here (who are happy to spend a lot on exposure during even European events), but over 200 suppliers have emerged here.
There were also representatives of China's business

No wonder – the PRC is the most important sales partner of Taiwan. In 2024 it was the largest export market for Taiwan, responsible for 31.7 percent. total export. In April 2025, the total value of Taiwan exports to China amounted to nearly $ 7 billion. Import reached $ 5.8 billion.
Europe in the background, but it is
What else can be seen from the perspective of the average visitor? Lots of Asian technology companies from all possible fields that hope that this event will open the door to great partnerships with American giants. It will not be a surprise that Europe is rather on this background on the side track – The lack of powerful hardware companies with a European pedigree made a large Zeiss pavilion to be conspicuous, and many companies simply focused under the umbrella of their domestic stands – e.g. France, Great Britain or Belgium.

However, Poland was visible against this background. The pavilion of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency did not stand out from other countries. Five Polish companies presented together with PAIH on Computex: Learnetic SA, Neralyrspike, Semiqa, Scanthesun and Transition Technologies PSC.
As Łukasz Lanski, head of the Foreign Trade Office in Taiwan, admitted in an interview with Business Insider, Polish companies can and are able to convince suppliers quite effectively to their software. While the device market is dominated by local giants, in terms of software, you can still find many interesting niche.
– Computex is a great opportunity to establish a relationship. Interest is great, we had many conversations with potential partners – says Filip Chojnacki from Learnetic.
