The universities of Hong Kong want to receive “exceptional students from all over the world” who are affected by the measure taken by the Trump administration to revoke the law of Harvard University to enroll students from other countries, according to France 24 and News.ro.

“For international students affected by the American Student Admission Policy, the Education Office (EDB) has appealed to all Hong Kong universities to provide facilitating measures to eligible students,” Christine Choi said Education Secretary.

His call comes after Donald Trump's administration announced on Thursday that Harvard forbids accepting foreign students from the beginning of the new academic year, accusing her of anti-Semitic complaints and links with the Chinese Communist Party.

Following the appeal, the University of Science and Technology of Hong Kong invited international students enrolled in Harvard, as well as everyone who has offers to attend the elite school, to continue their studies at HKUST.

Harvard is in the first place in the latest list of the best universities in the world prepared by the US News and World Report, while HKUST ranks 105 out of over 2,000 ranked universities.

Harvard sued the Trump administration

Harvard University announced on Friday that it had filed a complaint on this decision. In a message signed by the President of the University, Alan M. Garber, the institution says he will also request a “temporary restriction order”.

“For those international students and researchers affected by yesterday, you know that you are vital members of our community. You are our colleagues and friends, colleagues and mentors, our partners in the activity of this great institution,” the University message shows.

Also, Harvard representatives said that the Trump administration on Thursday's decision “continues a series of government actions meant to punish Harvard for our refusal to renounce academic independence and to submit to the illegal claims of the federal government to control the curriculum, the faculty and the student body”.

Harvard leadership says he has already filed a complaint in court and will follow “an application for a temporary restriction order”.

According to News.ro, an American judge has blocked the measure for the moment, but many foreign students are still waiting to see what will happen.
