Harvard University announced on Friday, one day after the Trump administration forbidden to school students from other countries, that it has filed a complaint regarding this decision. In a message signed by the President of the University, Alan M. Garber, the institution says he will also request a “temporary restriction order”.

Today's message, also published on the university's website, was also transmitted to Harvard students coming from countries other than the US, including to Romania, according to Hotnews information.

“For those international students and researchers affected by yesterday, you know that you are vital members of our community. You are our colleagues and friends, colleagues and mentors, our partners in the activity of this great institution,” the message shows.

“Thanks to you, we know more and understand more, and our country and the world are more enlightened and resilient. We will support you while we do our best to ensure that Harvard remains open to the world,” the university leadership gives assurances.

Harvard accuses of being punished for refusing to give up academic independence and did not want to obey the “illegal claims of the federal government”

In Friday's message, Harvard representatives say that by Thursday's decision the Trump administration “continues a series of government actions meant to punish Harvard for our refusal to give up academic independence and to submit to the illegal claims of the federal government to control the curriculum, the faculty and the student body”.

“We condemn this illegal and unjustified action. It endangers the future of thousands of students and researchers from all over Harvard and serves as a warning to countless others from colleges and universities from all over the country to follow America to follow their education and fulfill their dreams,” according to Harvard message.

Harvard leadership says he has already filed a complaint in court and will follow “an application for a temporary restriction order”.

“As we follow the legal ways, we will do everything in our power to support our students and researchers. The Harvard International Bureau will provide periodic updates as new information will appear,” the University announced.

Harvard talks about the “destructive action” of the Government

Harvard adds that the Government has argued its decision on Thursday, which it catalogs as a “destructive” action, on the “Harvard failure” to comply with the requests for information from the US Security Department.

“In fact, Harvard responded to the requests of the department according to the requirements of the law,” the University states, in the message signed by President Harvard, Alan M. Garber.

The Trump administration has completely revoked the right of Harvard University to enroll students from other countries, in an increasing confrontation with the prestigious institution in Ivy League. Thousands of foreign students already registered are now forced either to transfer to other universities or to leave the country.
