GDP falls on 96 billion and exports for 98 billion: Ukrpromsonic expertise estimated the consequences of increasing the freight tariff.
Increasing rates for freight transportation by 37% can lead to a decrease in Ukrainian GDP by 1.18% or 95.8 billion UAH, and a reduction in exports by almost 3% or 97.8 billion UAH. Such results were shown by the study of SE “Ukrpromzovnishexpertise”.
Given the share of the infrastructure component in the railway tariff, its increase by 37% will increase the cost of rail cargo transportation of different types of products by 26-31%.
Also, UZ tariff indexation will lead to a decrease in transportation by 27 million tonnes per year and a decrease in production by 23 million tons of different products.
Metallurgy (-6.9%), the mining industry (-5.3%) and the production of building materials (-4.2%) are most affected.
Instead of raising tariffs, experts propose to consider alternative options for compensation for losses of ultrasound: a state subsidy, the sale of non -core assets, or a review of tax burden.
