The first important mission of President Nicușor Dan: Appointment of a prime minister
After taking over the duties of president, Nicușor Dan must appoint a prime minister who manages to obtain a majority in the Parliament. Dan's first option for the position of prime minister is Ilie Bolojan, as he repeatedly said, including Thursday.
In order to appoint a prime minister, the president must call the parliamentary political parties (PSD, gold, PNL, USR, UDMR, POT, SOS Romania) and representatives of national minorities. Gold announced on Tuesday that he will not participate in these consultations.
Nicușor Dan will not call in the first week of mandate the parties for consultations, according to hotnews information. He will prefer to have informal discussion with the parties before this step, to find a majority in the Parliament for the future government.
The future government will be invested within a “3-4 weeks,” said Nicușor Dan on Thursday after the CCR meeting.
“I think it is good for all things to be established beforehand in order not to have tensions later in the Government.
Nicușor Dan repeated that he wants a government to be supported by all four pro-Western parties (PSD, PNL, USR and UDMR) and national minorities represented in Parliament.
However, most PSD leaders want the party to remain in opposition, the new interim president of the political formation, Sorin Grindeanu said on Tuesday. However, Grindeanu received an open mandate for the negotiations where the formation of a government will be discussed. The PSD decision, whether or not it enters the government, will be taken after these negotiations.
