In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, sellers of mercury will be judged

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, five men who illegally traded mercury will appear before the court.
The prosecutor’s office said that in 2018, the 35-year-old Krasnoyarsk discovered a cylinder with metal mercury on the territory of the military unit. For two years, the man kept the container at home, then gave it to his friend for storage, and in February 2025 he shared a secret with another friend.

The transition metal, which at room temperature is a heavy silver-white liquid.
Mercury leaves no burns and traces on the skin, but evaporates even at room temperature. In terms of hazard class, mercury refers to extremely dangerous chemicals.
Mercury and its formations are used in many sectors of the national economy: technology, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, in medical practice. In everyday life, mercury is used in thermometers.
The three of them developed a sales pattern of toxic substance and found three buyers from Kazakhstan. Foreigners arrived in Krasnoyarsk in their car and bought 2 kg of mercury in a glass jar.
“Three natives of Armenia from Uzhur also contacted the smugglers, who decided to sell their mercury reserves. Foreigners left for them, where they bought a substance for 190 thousand rubles. The crime was stopped by law enforcement officers, in connection with which 25 kg of liquid metal from the country did not leave, ”the prosecutor's office explained.
The prosecutor approved the charges of illegal marketing of toxic substances (part 2 of article 234 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) to four attackers. For the fifth, compulsory medical measures will be applied due to a mental illness.
Criminal cases were sent to the court for consideration on the merits. In relation to foreign citizens, a criminal case on the attempt on the smuggling of toxic substances (part 3 of article 30, part 2 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) is investigated.
