Nicușor Dan, the candidate who leads 54% after more than 90% of the votes expressed on Sunday, said that on Monday he intends to start “informal discussions” for the formation of the new government and that he still wants Ilie Bolojan to become a prime minister, although I cannot promise. “
Asked on Sunday night, in an intervention at Antena 3 CNN, what will do from Monday, Nicușor Dan replied: “There are three important things: the budget deficit, the security of Romania and the start of the discussions for a new government. In informal discussions, I will probably call the parties to tomorrow, then to the technical discussion for a few weeks.
“On the political side I will talk to the political leaders, but I expect to see what happens inside the parties, at the PSD it seems that it is a turbulence. From my information, there are discussions. PSD has an internal tension that it has to solve and I think that in the next few days we will see tensions there,” said the independent candidate.
He also said that in “a few weeks” he believes that the new executive will be formed.
“The discussion about the new government will not only be about who will be prime minister, but also about the set of measures to take at least until the end of the year,” Nicușor Dan continued.
Asked if it stays at the Ilie Bolojan Premier version, the mayor's mayor replied: “I would like, yes, but I can't promise now.”
“One of the meetings this week will be with Mr. Bolojan,” said Nicușor Dan.
He also had a message for George Simion's supporters.
“First of all, my respect. These people are revolted by how politics was done in Romania and how prosperity has divided into society, they are revolted by corruption,” said Dan.
“No matter how respectful I will be with them, until they feel that the Romanian state works for them, this hostility will remain. We will convince people that the Romanian state is starting to work for them,” added the independent candidate.
“Brussels, Chisinau, Washington, these are the first destinations, according to the situation,” said Nicușor Dan, asked what will be the first capitals in which he will go as a president of Romania.
