According to the Palestinian authorities, during the last day, 459 wounded and and the corpses of 153 were taken to the hospitals. In addition, a significant number of victims of Israeli attacks remain under the debris and near the bombed houses – medical teams and rescuers do not have access to them.

According to the Palestinian side, the number of fatalities in Gaza has increased to 53 272 since the conflict in October 2023, and 120,673 people were injured.

On March 18, the Israeli army resumed combat operations in the enclave, including massive air fire and thus interrupting the arms suspension agreed in January this year. The number of killed Palestinians from March 18, 2025 reached 3 131.8 632 people.

The body of Mohamed Sinwar, the commander of the armed wing of Hamas, was found in a tunnel near Chan Junus, where the Israeli army conducted the raids this week, said Times of Israel, citing Saudi sources this week.

Together with Sinwar, the bodies of his 10 advisers were found. This week, Israel conducted raids to the hospital, under which the Hamas Command Center was to be located.

Sinwar, senior military commander of Hamas, is the younger brother of the former Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip, Jahjy Sinwara, who was killed by Israel's defensive forces in the southern Gaza zone in October last year.

In July last year, Mohamed Sinwar took command of the military wing of the terrorist group. Later, after Sinwara's older brother was killed by IDF, he became a de facto leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli officials described the younger Sinwar as an obstacle in reaching an agreement on the suspension of weapons.

The plan of the new offensive in the Gaza Strip was approved by the Israeli government last week. Its purpose – according to Israeli politicians – is to resettle Palestinian civilians south, and then to occupy the remaining areas of the Gaza Strip, releasing all hostages and destroying the terrorist organization Hamas. Israel promises to resume the currently blocked humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip, but on new rules.

The next edition of the war in the Gaza Strip lasts from October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked the south of Israel, killing about 1,200 people and abducting 251 as hostages. The Israeli army believes that 23 hostages remain in captivity and 35 kidnapped bodies are detained. (PAP)
