The supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accused Donald Trump on Saturday of lying when he stated, during his golf tournament of this week, of wanting peace in the region. “On the contrary,” said Khamena, “the United States uses their power to provide the Zionist (Israeli) bombs of ten tons, which he then throws over the heads of the children in Gaza,” notes Reuters.

The reaction of the Iranian leader comes after the former US president said, during his Gulf tournament, that Iran must quickly accept a US proposal on his nuclear program, otherwise “will follow something bad”.

Referring to Trump's threats, Khamena said that “it doesn't even deserve an answer,” adding that “these words are a shame for the one who speaks to them and the American people.”

In a speech at a religious center in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated the hard position of Tehran towards Israel, which he described as “a dangerous, dangerous tumor that must be removed and will be removed.”

For his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticized Trump's statements, accusing him of hypocrisy.

“He talks about peace, but at the same time threatens with the most advanced mass killing tools. Which one should we believe?” Pezeshkian told a naval event organized in Tehran.

Iranian president stressed that Tehran will continue the discussions on the nuclear program, but will not give in to the pressures. “We are not looking for the war, but we will not give up our legitimate rights. Because we refuse to go to the intimidations, we are accused of being a source of instability in the region,” said Pezeshkian.

In parallel, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi claimed that Iran did not receive any official proposal from the US on the nuclear file, contrary to Trump's statements. “There is no scenario in which Iran will give up his right to gain the uranium for peaceful purposes …”, Araqchi wrote on the X platform.

The Iranian official warned that the frequent position changes of the United States prevent the progress of the negotiations. “It is absolutely unacceptable for America to repeatedly redefine the negotiation framework, which only extends the process,” said Araqchi, quoted by the Iranian state television.
