After the elections on Sunday, May 18, Romania will have a new president: George Simion (gold, supported by Pot) or Nicușor Dan (independent, supported by several parties).

The president's mandate is five years. Among the most important duties that the president has are the appointment of the prime minister (who must subsequently obtain a majority in the Parliament), the representation of Romania externally and the chairing of the Supreme Council of Defense (CSAT).

What is the order of the candidates on the ballot

The model of the ballot that the Romanians will receive in the second round of the presidential elections, from May 18, was established by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC). The first position will be George Simion (gold), and on the second Nicușor Dan (independent).

The BEC transmitted that “the order of registration of the candidates is the result of their ranking according to the number of valid votes obtained at the first round, as provided for in point 3 of the Constitutional Court of Romania no. 39/2025”.
