Not live in Istanbul, but on the phone. Trump announces conversations with Putin and Zelanski

US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that on Monday he would talk on the phone with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and then with the head of the Ukrainian state of Volodymyr Zelnski.

Trump announced that he would talk to Putin on Monday at 10 o'clock (16 in Poland). “The topics of the conversation will be the end of the bloodshed, in which on average over 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers per week, and trade dies,” wrote the president in his social network Truth Social.

Then Trump is to talk to Zelanski, and later – with him – with the leaders of various NATO countries.

He expressed the hope that “it would be a productive day, a weapon would be suspended, and this very brutal war, a war that should never occur, would end.”

Kremlin: Putin may meet with Zelanski, but under the conditions

Russian President Vladimir Putin could meet with the leader of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelnski, but only if you agree on several selected issues – the Kremlin, quoted by Reuters agency, said on Saturday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Pieskow did not specify what issues would have to be met before such a meeting. The agency reminded that the last meeting of politicians took place in December 2019.

Pieskov, commenting on Friday's conversations between Russia and Ukraine's delegations in Istanbul, said that the next step is to exchange prisoners and a mutual presentation of the list of conditions. The Kremlin spokesman also refused to comment on the demands presented by Moscow, paying attention to the need to maintain the confidentiality of the conversations.

The Kremlin also announced that he did not contact the US authorities, but “if the conversation with President Donald Trump is useful, we will announce it.”

The Bloomberg agency reported after the meeting in Turkey that Russia demanded during it Ukraine adopted a neutral status, official renunciation of claims for reparations and recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea and four other occupied circuits of this country.
