Earlier on Friday, the third road candidate, Sejm Marshal Szymon Hołownia told RMF FM that Trzaskowski should clearly say that he has nothing to do with the political advertisement on Facebook, presented by WP.pl, and clearly cut off from the practices described there. He made the matter of support in the second round of elections.
Trzaskowski, asked about this statement of Hołownia, told journalists during the journey to his next Friday meetings that “today it is very difficult to recognize who organizes what campaign, where there is disinformation, where there is true – this is to be clarified by services, by journalists and possibly those who conduct such activities.”
KO's candidate emphasized that he focuses on his campaign organized by his election staff and financed by his election committee. “Everything is of course according to the law and I can tell you this. On the other hand, other things, you are also to explain and ask those who organized such a campaign” – said Trzaskowski, turning to journalists.
He noted that he predicted that there would be “a lot of propaganda and a lot of dirty campaign.” “I don't have instruments to determine exactly who does it. I think I do it all those who want to weaken our democracy,” said Trzaskowski.
On Wednesday, a scientific and academic computer network (NASK) informed about a possible attempt to interfere in an election campaign – it was about political advertising on Facebook, which could be financed from abroad. ABW was informed about the case. Advertising accounts involved in the campaign in the last seven days have to spend more on political materials than any election committee.
Wirtualna Polska said on Thursday that from April 10 Facebook was “flooded with political advertisements” placed by two previously unknown profiles, meaning “you know how it is not” and “adult table”. In some of the advertisements – and all of them gave the impression of talking to ordinary citizens – the candidates in the election of PiS Karol Nawrocki and the candidate of the Confederation Sławomir Mentzen were strongly criticized. Trzaskowski was praised in the second part.
Journalists of the WP portal managed to identify three people appearing in advertisements and contact them. They all stated that people associated with the Akcja Democracy Foundation encouraged them to participate in commercials. The Foundation Board admitted that the employee helped the organization's foreign partner in “finding those willing to take part in recordings.” The company in question is Estratos Digital GmbH based in Vienna, providing for the “Technology Services and Consultations in the field of communication” for the Foundation.
