In the center of Krasnoyarsk, archaeologists work at the construction site of the Surikov Center

In Krasnoyarsk, at the site of the construction of the Surikov Center, at the intersection of Lenin and Kirov streets, the study of cultural layers began-this is a mandatory stage before the construction of a multifunctional building, which should begin in the summer of 2025.

Recall that when examining the site, experts discovered two objects of archaeological heritage: “Kachinskaya’s parking” and “Cultural layer of Krasnoyarsk XVIII – beginning. XX centuries. ” It can be about possible finds of the Neolithic era.

“This is the site-the terrace of the Kacha River, because of the new buildings, the river is not visible now, but even 200 years ago everything was different, people lived here. The most ancient layers of this parking lot, and two of them were revealed according to the results of archaeological intelligence, belong to the Neolithic era. Those researchers who were before us suggest that this is a 5-6 millennium BC. Architectural objects, the remains of bonfires or ancient housing can be found here, ”said Timofey Klyuchnikov, director of ANO“ Archaeological Research of Siberia ”.

Now more than 20 specialists are working at the facility. All work is performed manually, as the technique can damage the cultural layers. Currently, archaeologists are taking off the cultural layer of the 20th century, its depth of a meter order. Despite the fact that the work is only a couple of days, there is already the first find – the foundation of an unknown house – brickwork was found at a depth of 20 centimeters.

Under the terms of the contract, a set of measures must be performed until June 20.

“In parallel in June-July, bidding will be announced to search for a contractor for the construction of Suriki Center. We expect that the construction of the object will begin in August this year, and will end in the summer of 2027, ”said the acting Head of the Office of Capital Construction Sergey Shadrin.

Recall that the “Surikov-Center” will be built behind the museum-estate, from its north side. He It should become a unique cultural space that continues the traditions of the historical estate, but with a modern context. The designers took the chest of architectural and artistic solutions by Vasily Ivanovich’s chest, which he went to him from his great-grandfather, in which the artist kept his many sketches. The center itself will be two -story, and the basement is also provided. One of the “chips” of the suuriks will become a foyer: three large lamps in the form of birches will be installed in it-this is a reference to the trees that the artist planted (now they grow on the territory of the nearby Surikov Museum).

“There will be a large number of exhibition space in the new center. They are arranged in such a way that we can bring the largest canvases of Vasily Ivanovich here. This was the main condition that we presented to the designers.
