Tuesday morning was one of the coldest for the half of May in Romania, because the temperatures descended below 0 degrees C to the plains and below -8 C in the mountain. The weather will warm up the coming days, and on Thursday there will be temperatures of 25 degrees at noon. Snow layer has been deposited and below 1,300 m alt.

On Tuesday morning there were extremely low temperatures for May 13: in the plain, in the west, they were -0.6 C at Vărădia de Mureș and -0.5 C in Chisineu -Criș, the ANM maps show. At high altitudes it was much colder: -8.7 C in Omu and -7.4 C in the Călimani Mountains.

The temperature in Omu was the second lowest in Europe registered on Tuesday morning: colder was only at the Lomnicky Stit (Lomnica Peak) Mountain Station, over 2,600 m, in the Tatra Mountains (-9.7 C).

He gave the frost in many localities: Petroșani, Curtea de Argeș, Câmpulung-Muscel, Dej and Toplița (-2.9 C in the city of Harghita county).

Nowhere were there a minimum temperatures over 10 C, something rare for May 13.

The thickest snow layer is, according to ANM data, at the weather stations in Omu and in the Călimani Mountains (20 cm). The snow layer was deposited at the weather station Bucin, under 1,300 m alt.
