Poland closes the Russian consulate. It is known how Moscow can answer


The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski announced on Monday that He decided to withdraw its consent to the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Krakow. The decision is related to evidence of the participation of Russian special services in arson in 2024, a shopping center at Marywilska Street in Warsaw.

Russian deputy minister Aleksandr Gruszko has already reacted to Sikorski's movement. – In response to the activities of Warsaw, Moscow may close the Polish consulate in Königsberg or Irkutsk – announced Russian deputy minister Aleksandr Gruszko. His words are quoted by the Russian agency TASS.

Earlier, Maria Zacharowa spokeswoman for the closing of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the closure of the consulate in Krakow.

– Warsaw still deliberately destroys relations, acting contrary to the interests of citizens – the RIA Nowosti agency quotes its statement. Zacharowa also added that “Soon there will be an appropriate response to the wrong steps” of Poland.

In addition to the embassy in Warsaw, the Russian Federation had until recently in Poland consulates in Poznań, Gdańsk and Kraków, while Poland – apart from the embassy in Moscow – diplomatic municipalities in Irkutsk, Königsberg and Petersburg.
