Before the District Court in Bialystok, the trial of two men accused in the case of unauthorized broadcasting in August 2023 in Podlasie Radio-Stop signals began on Tuesday, which caused trains to stop.

The accused is a resident of Białystok and Skierniewice. They are 29 and 24 years old. When they were detained, the first of them was a policeman. He was expelled from service. They face up to 12 years in prison. One of them did not confess, the other only to broadcast signals, but it is not that he wanted the trains to stop and create a threat.

According to the indictment of the Podlasie delegation of the National Prosecutor's Office, men were supposed to give a safety brake on trains at various intervals. There were 18 freight and passenger trains equipped or threatened with stops equipped with a radio-stop system. Trains stood, among others In the area of ​​Łaps and on the Sokółka – Szepietowo route.

The accused are responsible for bringing danger to large size property. The prosecutor's office estimated at least PLN 149 million. She estimated that the action of the accused significantly disrupted the work of the railway line system in the region and there was a situation that “was to convince the existence of a threat to the life or health of many people or property in significant sizes.”

Both men were detained at home in one of Białystok housing estates. Shortwalence equipment was also found there. A former policeman who does not plead for any of the allegations is also responsible for the illegal processing of personal data. There is a fine, limitation of freedom or to two years in prison.

Their explanations in the investigation show that men met during short -wave listenings. Initially, they exchanged technical information about their hobby, then they also began to visit. When the radio-stop signals were given, which caused the trains to stop, they drank alcohol together. They recorded their actions using short -saver devices on phones.

After reading the explanations of the accused and their answers to the questions of the defenders and the court, the auditors began on Tuesday.

The first was the dispatcher of the PKP PLK company in Bialystok, who testified that when on August 27, 2023 he started working in the morning, they began to call him a traffic duty from the railway line from Czyżew to Kuźnica (Podlasie) with information that they received the signal “Alarm Radio-Stop” and passed the data which trains and where they stopped.

“It was a few times that the trains moved and stopped. The procedures provided in this case were initiated,” the witness said before the court.

In the investigation, he testified, among others, that one of the trains stopped at such a way at the Łapy station that he completely blocked the railway traffic through this station. It was necessary to push him with an additional locomotive.
