Donald Trump, whose mass deportation program of illegal immigrants is blocked in court, announced on Friday that he has signed an executive order for some people to be encouraged to “self -deport” from the United States by offering free flights abroad, AFP notes.

“We facilitate as much as possible the departure of illegal immigrants,” the US president said in a video on the SA TRUTH Social platform.

“Any illegal immigrant can simply come to an airport and receive a free flight abroad,” Trump said.

He explained that they can also book a direct flight through an application for the mobile phone: “As long as it is not here (in the US), you can go anywhere.”

Also, Trump warned those who remain on the American territory that they will face “sanctions, including sudden deportation, in a place and in a latitude.”

A person has already benefited from the program, say the American authorities

His administration announced on Monday that he will allocate $ 1,000 to immigrants who voluntarily leave, in addition to covering the transport costs.

Donald Trump had stated that people who choose to follow this path could be offered “perhaps one day” the chance to return legally to the United States.

The Department for Internal Security emphasized in a press release that this procedure would “reduce the cost of deportation by about 70%”, given that the average cost of arrest, withholding and deporting an illegal immigrant is currently $ 17,121, according to DHS.

The department has announced that a person from Honduras has already benefited from this program to return to his country.

Donald Trump has made the fight against illegal immigration a great priority of his second term, claiming that there is an “invasion” of the United States by “criminals from abroad”. But his program of mass deportations has been blocked or limited by numerous court decisions.
