A diver died during the preliminary operations of recovery of the superias of the British technological tycoon Mike Lynch from the waters on the northern Sicilia coast, the Local Police, quoted by the BBC, announced.
The accident occurred on Friday, while the diver was submerged to cut the main mast of the ship. The exact cause of his death is still unknown, according to the police. A preliminary examination of his body did not show visible wounds or burns. Investigators believe the diver had a medical problem while underwater.
According to the Italian local press, the diver was a 39 -year -old Dutch citizen, who worked for a company specialized in recovery.
The 56 -meter Bayesian yacht of Mike Lynch, one of the most famous British entrepreneurs in Tech, was anchored in the small Porticello port, near Palermo, on August 19, 2024, when he was hit by a storm.
Seven of the 22 people who were on board died in the shipwreck, including Lynch and his 18 -year -old daughter, Hannah.
The cause of the diving is still under investigation, the naval experts saying that a Bayesian caliber yacht should have resisted the storm and certainly should not have sinks as quickly as it did.
