The majority shareholder of FC Rapid and Genoa football clubs, Dan Șucu, said on Thursday at the Italian Embassy, that he still has many things to do how business is done in the peninsula, the business environment being quite different from Romania, writes Agerpres.

He stated that he never sought a businessman from the state.

“We have never searched and never asked for support from the state or from a state institution, nor will I ever look for it. From my point of view we must always be able to do what we can, with what we have, not always to think about what we lack. It is different in Italy compared to Romania, you cannot say that it is harder,”

The majority shareholder of the two groups also stated that in Italy he discovered many successful models that should also be applied in Romania.

“The message is always the same, nothing of the substance can only be done in a team. And this is valid in sports, and in the economy, it is valid in a trading company, everywhere, and in life in general. It is a very short period since I became an investor in Italy, there are many things to understand and extremely many things to learn at the same time. They must also be applied to us in the country, ”he said.

The businessman Dan Șucu participated on Thursday at the Italian Embassy in Bucharest, in an event on economic issues organized in order to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

The main shareholder of the Rapid Bucharest Football Club, Dan Șucu, became, in the middle of December last year, the majority shareholder of the Italian club Genoa, through an investment of over 45 million euros.

“Genoa Cricket and Football Club announced that, following a capital increase at 45,356,262 euros, of which 5,356,262 euros for free and another 40,000,000 euros paid on December 14, the Board of Directors approved the Romanian investor Dan Șucu. Participation in the share capital of about 77% of Genoa CFC, leaving the previous shareholders in a minority ”, the Italian club said in a press release.

Șucu is a prominent figure in the international economic panorama, being the president of the Concordia Patron Confederation.

Born in Bucharest, on April 25, 1963, Șucu is the founder of Mobexpert, the largest furniture brand in Romania, with over 2,200 employees. The Italian club also stated that Șucu is a leader in the real estate sector, and from 2022 he is also involved in the media, with a key role in the business daily “Ziarul Financiar”.
