The two freight trains that collided on Wednesday morning, in the Olteni Station area, Teleorman county, belong to the private operator Rail Cargo. The event did not result in train derailment or casualties, reports CFR, quoted by News.ro.
“A freight train traveling towards the Olteni station, belonging to the operator Rail Cargo, had to stop at the entrance signal to allow the passage of other trains in circulation. A second freight train of the same operator, coming from the same direction, caught up with it and hit it, after passing the protection signal that was about to stop”, CFR transmitted, on Wednesday, in a press release.
The railway accident took place on the Gălăteni-Olteni traffic section, Firul I.
The specialized staff of the Craiova Regional Railway Branch and the teams of investigators are on the spot to establish the causes and circumstances of the incident.
The train traffic between Olteni and Gălăteni takes place on Line II, with the adaptation of the traffic schedule.
The Rail Cargo company was involved in a rail accident a few months ago as well. On February 19, private freight train Rail Cargo and private freight train PIMK collided in Olt. Following the accident since then, the head of the PIMK private freight train has died.
