Northern European countries gathered in the JEF group, i.e. forming the joint of expedition (Joint Expeditionary Forces), were on Friday for further sanctions against Russia, if she does not agree to a 30-day truce in her war with Ukraine. At the end of the two -day Jef summit in Oslo did this.

Jef countries also announced restrictions on ships from the Russian shadow fleet. They also invited Ukraine to the “reinforced partnership”. They pointed out, however, that there is no question of sending European troops to Ukraine.

Combined expedition forces – this is the North European Military Partnership under the leadership of Great Britain, established for rapid response and expeditionary operations. In addition to Great Britain, they are created by: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and the Netherlands.

At the Friday press conference of Norway Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere and President of Finland Alexander Stubb announced the conditions that Russian leader Vladimir Putin must meet in order to immediately conclude a 30-day suspension of a weapon on the Russian-Ukrainian front. They were agreed with the presidents of the USA and Ukraine, Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelnski, who participated remotely in the work of the summit.

It was decided that if the Kremlin did not start the unconditional truce or did not comply with it, subsequent sanctions against Russia would apply to the energy and banking sectors.

“We can also expand them to other branches of the economy proposed by the Americans. I am not able to provide a specific date when we expect a truce to come into force, but it may occur in the coming days, even at the weekend,” said Stubb.

The President of Finland estimated that the current reactions of the West to Putin's aggression are effective, while Russia's situation is overestimated and exaggerated. According to Stubb, Putin's army is weakening, the progress on the front is obtained at disproportionately high losses, the country has already lost almost all currency reserves, and inflation in Russia reached a level of 20 percent.

Kiev was invited by JEF to the “reinforced partnership” in the field of training of the armed forces, technological cooperation, procedures and integration of the Ukrainian army to greater Kiev's participation in future joint operations.

The President of Finland added that further security guarantees for Ukraine will result from its membership primarily in the European Union, and then full participation in NATO, which he is a definite supporter.

Stubb and Stoere admitted that the possible sending of European troops to Ukraine would not be justified at present. Jef and the so -called The coalition of volunteers can provide full technologically support for monitoring of a weapon suspension, but it is the Ukrainian armed forces that are today the strongest army in Europe and on its equipment, armament and training of the Jef state should focus first.

The Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer informed about the exacerbation of sanctions against the so -called shadow fleets. The black list includes 100 trade ships used by the Kremlin to celebrate restrictions on international trade imposed by the international community. According to the British, in this way, from 2024 Russia managed to sell goods worth $ 24 billion, from which aggression on Ukraine is financed

“We cannot underestimate the threat that Russia is for our national security. That is why we will do everything in our power to destroy its fleet of secret services, deprive its war machine of oil from oil and protect the submarine infrastructure, on which our daily lives depends,” said Starmer.

Ukraine will host the meeting of the leaders of the “Coalition of Volunteers” on Saturday. It was created on March 2 this year. On the initiative of Prime Minister Starmer in order to develop a comprehensive support plan for Ukraine, ensure its constant access to weapons and take action to end the war. It includes 33 countries – mainly European, as well as Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Türkiye. The coalition did not include USA, some Balkan countries, Hungary and Slovakia.
