The Chancellor does not want to announce a state of emergency, “Kornelius told the portal of the” Bild “daily.
“Welt” informed on Thursday that Chancellor Merz announces the “national emergency” in relation to migration. Ambassadors of neighboring countries are currently informed about this decision by the German Ministry of the Interior – added.
As reported, the new government in Berlin would launch Article 72 of the TFEUE Treaty (TFEU). As a consequence, the Dublin agreement would cease to apply, which would result in more border controls and rejecting the applications of asylum applicants – wrote “Welt”.
Before the parliamentary elections, which took place in Germany in February, Merz announced that as Chancellor, the first day of office, he would recommend the Ministry of the Interior constant control of all borders and turning all the illegally entering. This also applies to persons authorized to protect – the portal pointed out.
After the cutter attack in Solingen, which occurred in August 2024, Merz called for a significant limitation of the “continuous illegal influx of” migrants and refugees. He said then that illegal migration “is currently a serious burden on the coexistence of our (German) society.”
From the point of view of the authorities in Berlin, turning is legal, because the persons to whom this provision concerns has already traveled through at least one of the neighboring Germany's countries, and thus through the safe country. This means that – according to EU regulations – “they have already gone by at least one country too far”. However, if there were problems with EU law, it would have to be changed or had to be announced “emergency” within the meaning of the EU treaties, “Welt” said.
