How George Simion responds to accusations launched to him by former volunteers in the civic associations he drove

George Simion complained an “attempt to discredit” and a “propagandistic effort”, after being asked, in the presidential debate on Thursday night at Euronews, about the accusations launched by the volunteers from the civic movements he led.

Asked by the journalist Euronews Vitalie Cojocari about the testimonies of former volunteers who accuse him, among others, that he “had Russians in the back” during the time when he was advocated for the Union with the Republic of Moldova, Simion replied that such statements appear in the context of the election campaign and represents an attempt to discredit it.

“When we are in the election campaign and it is an important moment for the future of Romania, sure everyone seeks to discredit. We have not seen former members of the USR or from the Save Bucharest Association to be asked and there is such a great propaganda effort, to go to dozens of journalists, I have to ask the investigations, Denigration on me, ”the golden leader replied.

What accuses a former activist from the movement of “New Golani”

A former member of the movement of “New Golani”, led by George Simion in the past, published on Facebook on Wednesday, a message talking about his involvement in the activist group and the relationship he had with the leader of the movement. She says she speaks now, after almost 17 years, because she considers important that “those who have known George Simion for a long time.

The young woman claims that she was 13 when she first entered the “New Golani” headquarters in Bucharest, attracted by the Pro-Union messages with the Republic of Moldova. He says he volunteered in actions of the group after discovering stickers with the message “Bessarabia E Romania” in the city. The woman claims that George Simion asked him to tell her “father George”, motting that she is “better than the biological father”, after the girl told him that she “did not have an easy childhood”. Instead, he addressed the name “My daughter”.

The young woman states that, in the absence of a stable paternal figure, she has become deeply loyal. “It seemed to me that he offered me so many just because he allowed me to tell him 'father',” she writes, adding that he was intensely involved in promotion activities: “I was sending letters, I was selling shirts, hats and what he had in the online store, I stayed to sleep at the headquarters to finish everything, A protest in Chisinau, in an extremely unstable period of the Republic of Moldova, just before April 7, 2009. She states that she has decided to tell now and because George Simion recently mentioned the new goals in an interview, “forgetting to clarify that almost no one with then he wanted to hear about him.” He remembers a meeting with him at a protest, before his entry into politics: “His right hand had become a 'wolf', a very aggressive legionary, next to whom you were afraid to stay. Now I see Lupu anymore, but it's normal, George has always thrown the people to be used when they became useless.”

The young woman claims that many of those involved then moved away, after knowing “the real George Simion.” “We all know that George is a real danger to this country! […] A man next to whom children are not safe, a man who manipulates, lies and is ready to step on the bodies to reach power – that man cannot, he must not, be the President of Romania! If this man wins, she will come over Romania-so please-wake up in time! ”, Says the woman.

Also, a former vice-president of the Unionist Movement Action 2012, who worked with George Simion between 2013 and 2017, also argued in a public post on Facebook, as the gold leader went from activism to political radicalism, becoming “more impulsive, manipulative and dangerous.” The author of the testimony describes Simion as “a charismatic leader, but devoid of empathy and principles”, capable of “lying, manipulating and stepping over people to achieve their goals.”

He claimed that he attended episodes of verbal and physical abuse and reported a meeting in which George Simion proposed to organize an extreme action in the Parliament. According to the testimony, “he came up with a plan that supposed to do in such a way as to organize a meeting in Parliament to attract the parliamentarians, then, with all gathered in the plenary room, to block inside and to seize them until the union votes.”

The “New Golani” was a civic movement founded in 2006 by George Simion, inspired by the protests in the University Square in 1990. The group promoted a nationalist and unionist message, supporting the union of Romania with the Republic of Moldova and organizing public actions in this regard. Simion was noted at that time through protests such as the ignition of candles in front of Ion Iliescu's house or throwing money in the former president, gestures that brought him notoriety, according to Recorder.

Later, in 2012, he founded the “Action 2012” platform, continuing unionist activism and organizing major events in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
