The young people from the 11th and 12th grades in Buzău, who turned 18, are urged by the PSD's local organization to register for representatives in the polling stations. The party thus announces that he gives up the delegations he had at the first round of elections.

“The PSD Buzău organization officially announces the withdrawal of its representatives from the polling stations in Buzău for the second round of the presidential elections, scheduled for May 18, 2025. In their place, the branch launches to the young Buzoians from the 11th and XII grades, who have reached the age of 18 years, to be involved in the process of the 18th birthday Voting ”, according to PSD Buzău.

The proposal came from the Executive Secretary of PSD Buzău, Romeo Lungu, said, for Hotnews, the mayor of Buzau, Constantin Toma.

The initiative represents an approach to promote civic involvement for the new generation, thus giving young people the opportunity to understand concretely how the electoral process is carried out, according to a press release sent by the county organization of PSD Buzau, quoted by Agerpres.

Interested young people can register to be representatives in the polling stations until Monday, May 12, at 12:00, at the headquarters of the PSD Buzău County Organization: “The maximum number of registrations is 80 persons”, according to PSD Buzau.

Young people will have the necessary training to fulfill their duties in the polling station where they will be members by PSD Buzau.

“I strongly believe that the change begins with involvement. I decided, along with colleagues, for PSD Buzau representatives to take a step back to take room for young people. It is time for the new generation to make their voice heard, to be part of the process and to contribute actively to a democratic society. It is not only a symbolic gesture, but a concrete step,” The Executive Secretary of PSD Buzău, Romeo Lungu.

The mayor of Buzău, who supports Nicușor Dan: “It does not seem like a bad idea”

The mayor of Buzău, at the same time the first vice-president of the PSD-Buzău County Branch, Constantin Toma, who announced his support for Nicușor Dan, said, in a dialogue with Hotnews, that the proposal was not his. Asked if this step is taken to support Nicușor Dan, he denied this.

“It has no connection, because the proposal is not coming from me,” Toma said.

“It does not seem like a bad idea. To come and the young people to participate actively, as actors, in the voting process, in a voting section, to take a penny and see what the rules are,” said Toma.

At the presidential elections, the political parties that have representatives in the Romanian Parliament (PSD, PNL, gold, USR, UDMR, POT, SOS Romania) also have representatives in the polling stations. Those who want to ensure that the electoral process is carried out correctly, but do not want to affiliate politically, can register as voting observers.
